Harry the Bear children's books on surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding
Surfing
At Giddy Up Publishing we are producing books that are very original and very
unique for children who want an alternative in their reading diet. We have
created a character Harry the Bear who is an adventuresome bear who has a strong
sense of self. Harry the Bear goes on the biggest adventure ever in Harry Rips
Australia by traveling halfway across the ocean to the land “down under.” He
visits his cousins Freddy and Sanga who are koala bears and they take him on
an awesome surfing safari! Harry is afraid of getting thrashed by the gnarly
waves but soon finds out surfing and sharing waves with your friends is totally
cool. The book Harry Rips Australia is a colorful inspiring story about taking
chances and having a positive go for it attitude. This book is funny in its
use of surfing and Australian slang. The illustrations are bright in its use
of vivid colors. This book is educational on many levels from it’s setting
in Australia, the lessons gained from nature of surfing itself, and ultimately
having the confidence to explore and experience new and challenging situations.
Giddy Up Publishing is bringing Surfing to children who are interested in something
exciting and different.
Skateboarding
Giddy Up Publishing’s first book Harry the Incredible Skateboarding Bear
is a wonderful tale about one bears quest to learn how to skate and bust huge
air. There are very few books about action sports with topics such as skateboarding
for young children. Harry the Bear delivers enjoyable fast action entertainment
for children. Harry is attracted to skateboarding by watching neighborhood
kids rip it up on a half-pipe they built. His soon-to-be friends are, “busting
huge airs, doing shuv-its galore, Harry was stoked he wanted to see more.”
This story is about connecting with something that brings you stoke and passion.
It is also a story about overcoming self-doubt and trying something that other
people may only laugh at. Ultimately it is story about courage to be who you
are celebrate that thing with in all of us that says, “Don’t be
afraid just go for it!”
Snowboarding
Harry the Bear’s Big Boarding Adventure is time classic tale of initiative
and enthusiasm over laziness. Harry the Bear goes snowboarding after the first
winter storms arrive while his brothers prefer to stay in their cozy beds and
sleep. Harry the Bear has the heart of a seeker and wants go fast down the
mountain and fly through the air with only a snowboard under his feet. His
friends Joey and Gus are there to help him reach his potential at becoming
a gnarly snowboarder and they have lots of fun on their way to this lofty goal.
After a few mean wipeouts and snow in his boots Harry learns the true meaning
of becoming a snowboarder. More importantly he learns it’s not if you
look good or have the right gear, but whether or not you are having fun. Harry
ultimately learns that if you want to do something you have to be responsible
to take the action to get it. And Harry gets it.
